TAXI sign on the roof, licence number on the doors, meter switched on. Anyone offering a ride inside the terminal or in front of the station is not a taxi driver: you take a taxi at a rank or you call one.
Flag fall €3.50 on weekdays, €5 on Saturdays and public holidays, €7.50 at night. After that, €1.33 per km at the start of the ride plus the time spent stationary in traffic. A short hop still costs at least €9.
Fiumicino ↔ the centre inside the Aurelian Walls €55, Ciampino ↔ the centre €40, Fiumicino ↔ Civitavecchia €130. The price is per car, includes luggage and tolls, and applies even when the taxi is ordered through an app.
The driver has to take cards and has to hand over a receipt. If something looks wrong, note the licence number and report it to the city council.

€55 flat, per car and not per person, between the airport and any address inside the Aurelian Walls: the historic centre, Termini, the Colosseum, Trastevere. Luggage and extras are included. Tiburtina station is €60, Ostiense €50. From Ciampino to the centre it is €40.
There is no fixed booking fee. The car comes to you with the meter running, but when you get in it cannot show more than the flag fall plus €5 — so at most €8.50 on a weekday.
Yes. Drivers are required by law to accept cards and debit cards, and to give you a receipt. A refusal can be reported to Roma Capitale using the licence number printed on the doors.
In normal conditions a taxi arrives in 5 to 15 minutes. At rush hour, in the rain or on strike days it takes longer: for a flight or a train, book the evening before with a cooperative (06 3570, 06 6645, 06 5551), which takes bookings for a set time.
